Dozens of people in the northern San Fernando Valley have reported a rotten egg-like odor this morning, a smell that's also been reported as far away as Simi Valley and the Inland Empire. | What are people on Twitter and Facebook saying about that smell?Brian Humphrey, a Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman, said the calls started early this morning and have mostly been from the Foothill and north Valley areas of the city.
Firefighters have not identified any source of the smell or any hazard. Because there were no specific sources reported for the smell, there's been nothing for firefighters to check out, Humphrey said.
He said callers were being referred to the South Coast Air Quality Management District. A voicemail at the district office said it's closed on Mondays.
