A team of scientists lead by Berkeley Laboratory researchers has proposed an experimental design for a space-time crystal - something that until now, was considered to be the realm of theoretical physicists.


A space-time crystal is a four dimensional crystal that has periodic structure in both time and space. Using such a 4D crystal, scientists could study many current problems of physics in new and more efficient ways - including the many-body problem of physics and phenomena in the quantum world, such as entanglement.
A space-time crystal would also allow us to keep perfect time *forever* - even up until after the end of the universe.
