DNA as the Tree of Knowledge, artwork. DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) is the molecule that controls the growth and development of all living things. The Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil is a tree described in the Bible's Book of Genesis, whose fruit was forbidden from being eaten. Eating the fruit gave knowledge of life and death. In the same way that Adam and Eve, seen here, gain knowledge after eating the fruit from the tree, understanding the structure and function of DNA has provided much knowledge on life, death and evolution.
